Started the day on Sunday November 10th with a ride on the Santos and Land Bridge trails
here in Sunny Florida. We rode 32.5 miles with rolling hills. The rolling just did not quit.
Found this tortoise enjoying lunch and the sunshine.
The Land Bridge trail is just that, it crosses I-75
A real mix in foliage. Lots of pine on this trail. Oak trees as well.
I don't now the other trees of Florida.
Lots of Mountain bike trails here as well, so had to watch the crossings
Pines - some are spread out like this and others are close knit.
Can't quite read the sign, It is Camp Cowpen. haha
Monday off to the Withlacoochee trail - the north end.

North end of the Withlacoochee trail
46.4 miles
What was I thinking. ??
This is a new park that was not here last March. Not open yet. There were workers working on it. There is a childrens play area, a picnic area and a fenced in area that I could not tell if it was a water, sprinkler park or shuffle board from a distance.
Additional things in this park just north of Inverness. Looks like a new bathroom facility and another building that we were not sure of.
The Withlacooche Choo-Choo
Not sure who these represent, but they are cute.
This is a Rail Trail and they have left the railroad markers. This one tells the conductor what whistle sequence to blow. Two longs, one short and a long.
This means: - - 0 - Approaching public grade crossing.
Having been down in March the previous years we are seeing different foliage in bloom.
Not sure what this bush is, but it is sure pretty.
Spanish moss hanging from tres.
Another railroad marker the go low from the north and get higher going south.
This poor little guy was lying next to the trail. From the position of his rear legs, I would guess he was hit by a previous biker. On our return trip he had moved about 4 feet away from the trail.
We also saw a turkey - squirrels and an Owl, but the owl was in flight and
could not catch a picture of him.
My reward for 46.4 miles. A strawberry milkshake from the Ferris Juice store.

Plan is for the other half of the Withlacoochee trail.
Another 46.4 mile day!!
I survived
At about mile 18 we came to this bridge. You will see the incline in a few more pictures. While today had fewer rolling hills, we still had some. After the 46 miles yesterday, my legs took some time to warm up and roll.
Unlike most wild critters, This one sat still for his picture to be taken. He was probably 3-4 feet long.
Pretty sure it was nonvenoumous.
Throughout our 4 hours of riding, we saw probably 12 - 15 tortoises. This little guy was of a different pattern. He was in the middle of the trail and hunkered down with all parts pulled in. I did not try to get him to come out. He just looked too scared.
This was one one of the many other tortoises we saw today.
You see the angle of the approach to the bridge we had to cross to finish the trail
Just a couple of shots of how pretty the trail was. Was about 50/50 for sun and shade.
Wednesday November 13 will be a day we will take a break.
Thursday November 14, a ride on the West Orange trail with Joe McCormick - a triker friend from Michigan.
Pretty sights at the moss hangs from the trees.
Palms and pines along the way.
Swamps along the way.
The canopy was intermittent on the trail. But sure was pretty.
Was able to keep up on the flats, but on the hills I always fell behind. Some got me down to 9 mph.
Yes a selfie with my camera.
The tree is called a Live Oak and covered in Moss. I understand they cohabitat with no problems.
Friday - rainy, Saturday was the MSU vs UM game and Sunday was my birthday and we had dinner in Wildwood with Sue and Bob Woodman.

Another ride on the Withlacoochee.
Road today with Joe McCormick took pictures at our lunch stop which was at Swampys' on the Withlacoochee river.
Pretty spot.
Tuesday was a day to look over propertiess.
Wednesday will be a ride on Landbridge and Santos again, but with a few additional riders.

Beautiful Day!! Weather perfect.
This is the look of the start of the day. about 58 degrees when we started.
Palms and pines. Found some pretty big pine cones.
The oaks we are used to in the midwest.
Baby Oak that will help repopulate this land.
Fungus on an old stump.
A little acorn. Sorry it is fuzzy. had trouble getting focused.
Yes that sign says Bear Country. Only saw a couple of deer run across the trail, a few squirrels, but no bear.
From a beautiful Canopy, to....
to open skies and sunshine.
The end of the day.
Thursday is a touring day to see sights.
Friday will be the Nature Coast Trail.
